Carla Rose is a fresh new face in the world of millinery. Taking her inspiration from the shapes and textures found in nature, Carla mixes traditional techniques with contemporary, fresh design to create highly wearable, distinctive pieces. Her flattering pieces combine intricate details with sculptural shapes, offering a new take on classic millinery styles.
Carla supplies a range of stunning, unique hats and headpieces, handcrafted to the highest standard. Her designs are perfect for any special occasion and can also be customised to the individual clients requirements. Carla is practised in working with private clients, brides, mother of the brides and theatre designers.
She first studied at Nottingham Trent University, gaining a degree in Textile Design in 2005. She became fascinated with millinery after completing a short course at the Janie Lashford School of Millinery and went on to study at the London College of Fashion. While working as a wardrobe assistant in the theatre, Carla set up her own business designing and making her own creations, selling them at various boutiques in Nottingham and receiving commissions from both private clients and theatre companies before finally deciding to leave the theatre and dedicate her time solely to millinery.
Now based in London, Carla comes from a new generation of millinery designers, having recently completed HNC Millinery Design at Kensington and Chelsea College. She has completed a work placement with milliner, Karen Henriksen, and is currently undertaking a work placement with Noel Stewart.
So far in 2011, one of Carla’s designs is being exclusively sold in Fenwick on Bond Street. Her designs have also been featured in the Telegraph online and on the Vogue Italia website.
